Sister – in The Holy Bible


I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV, God gave me the following verses in the context of “Sister(s)”  varieties in attitude, by promise and by creation of God,  from Genesis till Revelation, from The Holy Bible (KJV).

Gen 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain,
an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron:
and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

Gen 12:13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister:
that it may be well with me for thy sake;
and my soul shall live because of thee.

Gen 12:19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister?
so I might have taken her to me to wife:
now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.

Gen 20:2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister:
and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

Gen 20:5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister?
and she, even she herself said,
He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart
and innocency of my hands have I done this.

Gen 20:12 And yet indeed she is my sister;
she is the daughter of my father,
but not the daughter of my mother;
and she became my wife.

Gen 24:30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets
upon his sister’s hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister,
saying, Thus spake the man unto me;
that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.

Gen 24:59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse,
and Abraham’s servant, and his men.

Gen 24:60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her,
Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions,
and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

Gen 25:20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife,
the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram,
the sister to Laban the Syrian.

Gen 26:7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said,
She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest,
said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah;
because she was fair to look upon.

Gen 26:9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said,
Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister?
And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

Gen 28:9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives
which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son,
the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

Gen 29:13 And it came to pass,
when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son,
that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him,
and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.

Gen 30:1 And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children,
Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob,
Give me children, or else I die.
2. And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said,
Am I in God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

Gen 30:8 And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister,
and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.

Gen 34:13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:

Gen 34:14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing,
to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised;
for that were a reproach unto us:

Gen 34:27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain,
and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.

Gen 34:31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?

Gen 36:3 And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth.

Gen 36:22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam;
and Lotan’s sister was Timna.

Gen 46:17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui,
and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.

Exo 2:4 And his sister stood afar off,
to wit what would be done to him.

Exo 2:7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter,
Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women,
that she may nurse the child for thee?

Exo 6:20 And Amram took him Jochebed his father’s sister to wife;
and she bare him Aaron and Moses:
and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.

Exo 6:23 And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab,
sister of Naashon, to wife;
and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Exo 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron,
took a timbrel in her hand;
and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

Lev 18:9 The nakedness of thy sister,
the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother,
whether she be born at home, or born abroad,
even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

Lev 18:11 The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter,
begotten of thy father, she is thy sister,
thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

Lev 18:12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister:
she is thy father’s near kinswoman.

Lev 18:13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister:
for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.

Lev 18:18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister,
to vex her, to uncover her nakedness,
beside the other in her life time.

Lev 20:17 And if a man shall take his sister,
his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter,
and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness;
it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people:
he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

Lev 20:19 And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister,
nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth his near kin:
they shall bear their iniquity.

Lev 21:3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him,
which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

Num 6:7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother,
for his brother, or for his sister, when they die:
because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

Num 25:18 For they vex you with their wiles,
wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor,
and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister,
which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.

Num 26:59 And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed,
the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt:
and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

Deu 27:22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister,
the daughter of his father,
or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Jos 2:13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother,
and my brethren, and my sisters,
and all that they have,
and deliver our lives from death.

Jdg 15:2 And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her;
therefore I gave her to thy companion:
is not her younger sister fairer than she?
take her, I pray thee, instead of her.

2Sa 13:1 And it came to pass after this,
that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar;
and Amnon the son of David loved her.

2Sa 13:2 And Amnon was so vexed,
that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin;
and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her.

2Sa 13:4 And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king’s son,
lean from day to day?
wilt thou not tell me?
And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar,
my brother Absalom’s sister.

2Sa 13:5 And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed,
and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee,
say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come,
and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight,
that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

2Sa 13:6 So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick:
and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king,
I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come,
and make me a couple of cakes in my sight,
that I may eat at her hand.

2Sa 13:11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat,
he took hold of her, and said unto her,
Come lie with me, my sister.

2Sa 13:20 And Absalom her brother said unto her,
Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee?
but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother;
regard not this thing.
So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom’s house.

2Sa 13:22 And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon
neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon,
because he had forced his sister Tamar.

2Sa 13:32 And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother,
answered and said, Let not my lord suppose
that they have slain all the young men the king’s sons;
for Amnon only is dead:
for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined
from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

2Sa 17:25 And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab:
which Amasa was a man’s son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite,
that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab’s mother.

1Ki 11:19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh,
so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife,
the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

1Ki 11:20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son,
whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house:
and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among the sons of Pharaoh.

2Ki 11:2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah,
took Joash the son of Ahaziah,
and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain;
and they hid him, even him and his nurse,
in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

1Ch 1:39 And the sons of Lotan;
Hori, and Homam: and Timna was Lotan’s sister.

1Ch 7:30 The sons of Asher; Imnah, and Isuah,
and Ishuai, and Beriah, and Serah their sister.

1Ch 7:32 And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham,
and Shua their sister.

2Ch 22:11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king,
took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons
that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber.
So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram,
the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,)
hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.

Job 1:4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day;
and sent and called for their three sisters
to eat and to drink with them.

Job 17:14 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father:
to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

Job 42:11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters,
and all they that had been of his acquaintance before,
and did eat bread with him in his house:
and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil
that the LORD had brought upon him:

Pro 7:4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister;
and call understanding thy kinswoman:

Jer 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things,
Turn thou unto me. But she returned not.
And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel
committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce;
yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Jer 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah
hath not turned unto me with her whole heart,

Jer 22:18 Therefore thus saith the LORD

Eze 16:45 Thou art thy mother’s daughter,

Eze 16:55 When thy sisters,
Sodom
and her daughters, shall return to their former estate,
and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate,
then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.

Eze 16:56 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned
by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,

Eze 16:61 Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed,
when thou shalt receive thy sisters,
thine elder and thy younger:
and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.

Eze 22:11 And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour’s wife;
and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law;
and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father’s daughter.

Eze 23:4 And the names of them were
Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine,
and they bare sons and daughters.
Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

Eze 23:11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this,
she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she,

then my mind was alienated from her,

1Co 7:14. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases:
but God hath called us to peace.

1Co 9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister,
a wife, as well as other apostles,
and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

and Marcus, sister’s son to Barnabas,

1Ti 5:2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters,  with all purity.

Jam 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16. And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be  ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what  doth it profit?

2Jo 1:1. The elder unto the elect lady and her children,
whom I love in the truth; and not I only,
but also all they that have known the truth;
2. For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us,
and shall be with us for ever.

2Jo 1:13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
