I am no preacher, but, am a prime sinner and living in this world in HIS mercy. For a sinner like me too, when I read “The Holy Bible” KJV,  the following verses were given in the context of “require”.

Gen 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require;
at the hand of every beast will I require it,
and at the hand of man;
at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.

Gen 31:39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee;
I bare the loss of it;
of my hand didst thou require it,
whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

Gen 42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying,
Spake I not unto you, saying,
Do not sin against the child;
and ye would not hear?
therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Gen 43:9 I will be surety for him;
of my hand shalt thou require him:
if I bring him not unto thee,
and set him before thee,
then let me bear the blame for ever:
